Hampstead, London - 2019

We originally designed and installed the lighting scheme for this client in 2009. During this time they had another electrician who was working on the inside of the property and advised that the garden lights needed replacing. Sadly this wasn’t true and after a year of problems we were called back to look at the lighting. Unfortunately the whole system was badly installed and had to be ripped out and started from scratch.

As lighting has changed a lot since 2009, we decided to completely redesign the scheme utilising the smaller sized LED light fittings to illuminate the garden and aspects that we could not have done all those years ago.

The client wanted a softly lit garden but at the same time, functional so that they could enter the property and walk to the front door easily. The front entrance gates, for pedestrians and cars, were illuminated thus creating a warm welcome for the client and their visitors. We illuminated the front and rear gardens with warm white light to create a soft ambient illumination.

The lights are switched by remote control via an app on a smartphone/tablet and the front lights switched by an intelligent timer. Once the timer switches the lights off, these can be reactivated by either of the gates being opened or by the app. We programmed the lights to gradually switch on to full brightness when either of the gates open.

We would love to design your lighting project and if you would like to discuss this further please contact us via the website, or email design@moonlightdesign.co.uk or 020 8925 8639.
