About this project

This is a medium sized garden lighting scheme in Islington, London, dating from 2020. The garden has a pool, a lawn, tropical planting and more traditional touches such as topiary, a stone bench and a brick wall, and we lit it to be enjoyed at dusk and after dark.

The lighting
  • Banana plants and a palm are uplit beside the pool, so the planting reads clearly against the water.
  • In ground uplights run along the edge of the lawn, with flush ground lights set into the grass.
  • Birch trees and shrubs are lit from below at dusk.
  • An olive style tree in a planter is uplit above roses and a low hedge.
  • A stone sculpture and topiary are lit against a brick wall.
  • A stone garden bench and clipped hedge are given a soft uplight.
Fittings and controls

We used low voltage Hunza Lighting and LuxR fittings. Hunza is a New Zealand brand known for long lasting, maintainable fittings. Light Symphony controls the scheme.
