About this project
Our work in Woldingham, Surrey began as a lighting design in 2021 and was installed in 2023. It is a medium sized residential garden in a naturalistic, woodland setting, separate from our other Surrey scheme at Oxshott.
The garden combines a courtyard rill, a timber deck, a pavilion, a sauna cabin and wildflower banks, and the lighting keeps these features visible after dark.
The lighting
- A long rill with twin water spouts, with uplit tree ferns on a board marked concrete wall above it, beside the timber deck.
- Amber light on the wall behind a raised planter of ferns, where water falls into a pool.
- Gravel paths through wildflower and thyme planting, marked by bollard and path lights, with stone steps rising to the glazed house.
- A timber pavilion with warm lit canopy beams and deck steps, seen across the lawn with uplit pines and boulders.
- A branching tree sculpture uplit in a gravel garden, among ground lights and purple salvia.
- A dark timber sauna cabin in the woodland, with a path light on the gravel path.
Fittings and controls
We used low voltage Hunza Lighting, LuxR and Jean-Philippe Weimer fittings, with Light Symphony controlling the scheme. Hunza is a New Zealand brand known for long lasting, maintainable fittings.
