About this project
This garden lighting scheme in the London Borough of Haringey was completed in 2023 and is a medium sized residential project. Belderbos Landscapes handled the garden design and landscaping, and we lit a tiered garden that rises in timber steps through tall grasses, palms and ferns.
Palms, banana plants and a timber clad building give the garden a lush, layered look, and the lighting follows that structure from the lower steps up to the deck.
The lighting
- Timber steps are lit with warm strip lighting set out of sight, so the treads glow through the planting.
- A lantern and path lights mark the route up through the garden at night.
- Palm leaves, birch and other trees are uplit to give height and texture.
- A slim bollard light sits among shrubs beside one of the steps.
- The upper deck, with a hanging egg chair, is framed by softly lit trees at dusk.
- A terrace with sun loungers and a wooden hot tub has gentle light in the planting around it.
Fittings and controls
The scheme uses low voltage Hunza Lighting, LuxR and Jean-Philippe Weimer fittings. Hunza is a New Zealand brand known for long lasting, maintainable fittings. The whole scheme is controlled by Light Symphony.
