About this project

Garden lighting for a small residential project in the London Borough of Waltham Forest, completed in 2023. The plot is compact but holds a good deal: a covered patio, an outdoor kitchen, a koi pond, a timber garden studio and several trees.

The lighting
  • A covered patio under a pergola has colour changing LED lighting, with lit grasses beside the dining set.
  • The outdoor kitchen and barbecue area has blue LED light under the units and along the floor, with an uplit hedge and green wall behind.
  • A koi pond with a fountain is lit at night, with illuminated planters beside the modern house.
  • Brick paths and the lawn are lit by bronze bollard lights among red and pink planting.
  • A timber garden studio is lit by bollards and a roof light, with uplit pine and maple trees.
  • Garden tables have light built in: one has a glowing ring under its glass top, and another, on a driftwood base, is lit from within.
Fittings and controls

The scheme is made up of low voltage Hunza Lighting and LuxR fittings. Hunza is a New Zealand brand known for long lasting, maintainable fittings. Everything is run through Light Symphony.
