About this project

In 2022 we completed the lighting design for a medium sized residential garden in Sevenoaks, Kent. The garden includes a brick garden room, an oak pavilion with an outdoor kitchen, a stone terrace and mature woodland trees.

The lighting works across all of these, so the terrace is usable in the evening and the trees beyond remain part of the view.

The lighting
  • Chestnut and other mature trees are uplit, with in ground lights glowing on the lawn beneath them.
  • A gravel path winds through lit tree trunks and ferns at dusk.
  • The oak pavilion outdoor kitchen has downlit beams, so the grill, pizza oven and brick bar are clearly lit at night.
  • Recessed step lights and a lantern pick out the brick terrace wall and the steps.
  • Warm wall lights graze the textured brick and flint corner of a building.
  • The brick garden room glows at dusk, set against the lit woodland behind it.
Fittings and controls

We used low voltage Hunza Lighting, a New Zealand brand known for long lasting, maintainable fittings, with LuxR and Jean-Philippe Weimer fittings. The whole scheme is controlled by Light Symphony.
