About this project
Our 2024 garden lighting project in the London Borough of Bromley is a medium sized residential scheme on a sloping, hillside garden.
Steps, a pond, a timber deck and planting beds are all part of the garden, and each is lit so that the route up the slope and the seating areas can be enjoyed after dark.
The lighting
- Brick steps and staircases are lit by low path lights and by wall lights set into the side walls, with a timber gate at the top.
- A raised corten steel pond is lit at night, with spike lights along its gravel edge.
- A Japanese maple is uplit beside a dark ornamental pond with water lilies and hydrangeas.
- On the timber deck, perforated lanterns hang in a tree above the lounge chairs.
- A laser cut metal screen on a dark fence is backlit behind a Lutyens style bench.
- A brick wall is washed with warm uplighting among grasses beside a stone patio.
Fittings and controls
The scheme uses low voltage Hunza Lighting, a New Zealand brand known for long lasting, maintainable fittings, plus LuxR and Moonlight Design fittings. Light Symphony controls the scheme.
