Date: 2021

Size: Small

Lights used: low voltage Hunza Lighting, LuxR

Controls: Light Symphony

About this project

In 2021 we completed a small residential lighting design for a garden in Tonbridge, Kent. It is a compact space with a stone paved terrace, a wrought iron gazebo, a wooden arbour and a lot of planting, so the garden lighting picks out texture and gives the seating areas a warm glow.

The lighting
  • The rusted ironwork gazebo stands on stone columns, with a lit finial above and a bistro table beneath it.
  • Bamboo, a palm and a Japanese maple are uplit, so the golden canes and leaves stand out against the dark.
  • A palm trunk is wrapped in warm string lights, and its fan leaves are backlit above.
  • A lit path leads towards the wooden lattice arbour, which is lit from above beside the planting.
  • Flowers, including pale globe thistle, catch the light around the terrace at night.
Fittings and controls

The fittings are low voltage Hunza Lighting, a New Zealand brand known for long lasting, maintainable fittings, and LuxR. Light Symphony controls the scheme.
