About this project
This small to medium residential garden lighting scheme in Chalfont Saint Giles, Buckinghamshire, was completed in 2023. We designed the lighting around a rear garden with a lawn, a terrace, a Victorian style greenhouse and a slate sphere water feature.
At dusk the garden is lit in layers, so the eye moves from the brick house across the lawn to the greenhouse and trees beyond.
The lighting
- A round slate sphere water feature is lit by ground lights, with an uplit multi stem tree behind it.
- The glazed greenhouse glows warmly from within and stands out on the lawn at twilight.
- Trees around the lawn are uplit, and a rose arch is picked out near the greenhouse.
- A rose covered oak pergola with a bistro table and chairs is lit softly for the evening.
- The paved terrace, stone seats and potted flowers in front of the greenhouse are lit gently.
Fittings and controls
We used low voltage Hunza Lighting, a New Zealand brand known for long lasting, maintainable fittings, together with LuxR and Light Visuals. Light Symphony controls the scheme.
