About this project
In Wimbledon, London, we completed a small garden lighting scheme in 2024. It covers both the approach and the back garden: a gravel drive with a timber gate and brick wall at the front, and a walled lawn garden behind.
Much of the work is about trees, and the scheme brings out their shape and canopy after dark.
The lighting
- A magnolia in front of the brick house glows with warm uplight, with bollard lights along the driveway.
- Pleached trees and the brick boundary wall are uplit by ground lights, drawing a clear line along the drive.
- The bay window of the house is lit, with climbers and multi stem trees uplit against a slatted fence.
- Border shrubs, the tree canopy and the timber gate are warmly lit at dusk.
- In the town garden, trees and an olive are uplit, with a glowing seating area at the far end.
- A row of pleached trees is lit against a cream wall in the walled lawn garden.
Fittings and controls
Low voltage Hunza Lighting and LuxR fittings were used. Hunza is a New Zealand brand known for long lasting, maintainable fittings. Light Symphony controls the lighting.
