About this project
This is a residential garden lighting scheme in Tonbridge, Kent, installed in phases between 2017 and 2021. It is a medium sized project.
Spreading the work over several years let the lighting grow with the garden. The result is a lit approach, a lit house frontage and a series of planted areas that each have their own character after dark.
The lighting
- The gravel driveway is marked by path lights, with uplit borders alongside it and an ornate iron gate in view.
- The half timbered house is seen at dusk with its windows glowing, framed by lit planting at the front.
- White hydrangeas and shrubs are spotlit warmly, so the flowers stand out against the dark.
- A black pergola and trellis have uplighting on the climbers and planting around them.
- Two ornamental trees are uplit in front of a patio doorway, with brick garden walls glowing beside them.
- Mature oak trees and the lawn are lit with in ground spotlights, giving depth to the far end of the garden.
Fittings and controls
The scheme uses low voltage Hunza Lighting, a New Zealand brand known for long lasting, maintainable fittings, together with LuxR and Flos. Light Symphony controls the scheme. Because this Tonbridge project ran from 2017 to 2021, it is separate from our 2021 Tonbridge project, which is small.
