Job Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Outdoor Lighting Specialist to join our growing team. This role involves providing expert knowledge on lighting design, installation, and maintenance of outdoor lighting systems. The ideal candidate will have a passion for design and technology, with an eye for detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Lighting Design: Develop customized lighting designs for residential, commercial, and landscape projects based on client needs and site assessments.

Consultation: Meet with clients to understand their vision and provide professional recommendations for outdoor lighting solutions.

Installation and Setup: Oversee the installation of lighting systems, ensuring proper placement, wiring, and functionality. Coordinate with electricians and other specialists as needed.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of installed lighting systems, diagnosing issues and making repairs as necessary.


Product Knowledge: Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in outdoor lighting, including energy-efficient options, smart lighting systems, and LED technology.


Project Management: Manage timelines, budgets, and resources for lighting installation projects, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.


Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service throughout the project lifecycle, from initial consultation to post-installation support.

Required Qualifications

Strong understanding of lighting technologies, including LED, low-voltage, and solar-powered systems.
Proven experience in outdoor lighting design, installation, or related fields (landscaping, electrical work, etc.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
Knowledge of local codes, safety standards, and regulations related to outdoor lighting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and team members.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification or formal training in electrical work, landscape lighting design, or related areas.
Experience with smart lighting systems or home automation.
Project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in various outdoor environments, including exposure to the elements.
Ability to lift up to [X lbs] and carry equipment, tools, or materials as necessary.
Comfortable with heights, climbing ladders, and working in elevated positions.

What You’ll Do

  • Support lighting design projects: Assist in developing lighting concepts, layouts, plans, and specifications alongside senior designers.
  • Collaborate closely: Join project reviews, brainstorm sessions, and site visits, contributing ideas and enthusiasm at every stage.
  • Communicate with clients and design teams: Support the delivery of projects by engaging professionally with clients, architects, interior designers, our own installation teams and contractors.
  • Produce drawings, models & visuals: Work with AutoCAD, SketchUp, DIALux, and Adobe Creative Suite to create lighting layouts, 3D models, and presentation visuals.
  • Keep learning: Stay up to date with new lighting products, technologies, and design software, and help research solutions for ongoing projects.

Who You Are

  • A graduate in lighting design, interior design, architecture, product design, or a related creative discipline.
  • A friendly, approachable person who enjoys working as part of a small, supportive team.
  • Enthusiastic, organised, and proactive with a genuine interest in how lighting transforms spaces.
  • A confident communicator, comfortable contributing ideas and liaising with clients and collaborators.

Essential Software Skills

You should be confident working with:

  • AutoCAD
  • SketchUp
  • DIALux or Relux
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign)

Knowledge of Revit, Rhino, or other 3D/visualisation tools would be a bonus, but isn’t essential — we offer training and encourage development.
